Overview of the Role
Supporting organisations to improve productivity, streamline processes and solve operational challenges through the safe, responsible and effective use of AI, automation and digital tools.
Details of the Standard
This apprenticeship is designed for individuals who want to identify opportunities for improvement and help organisations work more efficiently through AI and automation. Apprentices learn how to analyse existing workflows, identify bottlenecks, recommend improvements and support the design and implementation of practical digital solutions. The role is relevant across a wide range of sectors, including professional services, education, health, logistics, retail, technology, creative industries and manufacturing. Apprentices may work with low-code and no-code platforms, AI tools, integrations and digital workflows to reduce manual activity, improve accuracy and support better ways of working. They also learn how to work responsibly, considering data protection, digital ethics, accessibility, security and user adoption.
Entry Requirements
There are no statutory or typical entry requirements set within the occupational standard. Employers will set their own entry criteria, but this programme is likely to suit individuals working in digital, operational, process improvement or change-focused roles, with an interest in AI, automation and improving business performance.
English and Maths
Apprentices aged 16 to 18 who do not already hold suitable equivalent qualifications are required to achieve English and maths as part of the apprenticeship, up to an approved level 2. Apprentices aged 19+ may also be supported to study English and maths up to level 2 where this is agreed as part of their training plan.

Delivery & Readiness
Onboarding includes an initial and detailed assessment with a sector specialist. Regular meetings can be delivered through blended learning, using a mix of face-to-face and remote sessions. Progress is reviewed throughout the programme with the learner, employer and tutor, with gateway preparation built in ahead of the final assessment.
Summary of End-Point-Assessment
The current approved assessment approach includes a work-based project and a professional discussion.

Progression
This apprenticeship can support progression into roles such as AI integration officer, digital automation specialist, process automation analyst, digital productivity consultant, workflow solutions assistant or other digital improvement and transformation roles.
