Benefits for Businesses
Apprenticeships are a mutually beneficial opportunity. Apprentices gain practical skills, earn accredited qualifications, and receive a salary. Businesses access a motivated talent pool, develop skilled staff, and improve productivity.
Upskill Your Workforce
You know the skills your team needs to drive your business forward. Apprenticeships let you close skill gaps by training new employees from day one, developing the talent your business really needs.
Reduce Your Costs
The ‘apprentice rate’ is lower than standard wages in the first year, and many employers can access funding to help offset costs, making apprenticeships a cost-effective way to grow your team.
Boost Productivity
Apprentices deliver value from day one, supporting daily tasks, gaining practical skills, and contributing to your business’s productivity and growth.
Reduce Turnover
Many apprentices go on to become permanent team members, with 90% staying at their company after completing their qualification, contributing to long-term stability and growth.
Future Proof Your Team
By bringing in new talent with fresh perspectives or transferable experience, you can strengthen your team, introduce new capabilities and develop skills in a cost effective way that supports long term growth.
Built Around Your Business
Training someone from the ground up allows you to shape skills around how your business works, with the flexibility to choose the apprenticeship standard and provider that best fit your needs.
Our apprenticeships cover a wide range of sectors from business administration and customer services, to engineering, construction, early years education, health care and hospitality and catering. We can also offer consultancy on organisation-wide training needs analysis, or deliver bespoke skills development.
Why choose Swatpro as your Learning Provider?
If you are new to apprenticeships, or a small business about to hire an apprentice for the first time, we can provide guidance and assistance in using the Government's Apprenticeship Service platform. In fact, we are one of 15 training providers nationally to have been chosen by the Department for Education to take part in an Expert Provider pilot project. This gives us unprecedented access to additional features within the Apprenticeship Service that are designed to help employers even more.

Employer Guidelines for Apprenticeships
As an employer, knowing your obligations and the optimal ways to support your apprentices is essential for success.
Here are your key responsibilities and how we'll assist you in meeting them at every stage.
Apprenticeship Standard Choice
We'll help you identify the Apprenticeship Standard aligned with your requirements, ensuring your apprentices can fulfil the necessary occupational responsibilities while making an immediate impact.
Employer Mentorship
Swatpro will collaborate closely with your team to understand your needs and develop practical, work-based projects tailored to your business goals, enabling apprentices to apply their newly acquired skills right away.
Track Advancement
Our performance tracking system provides managers with clear visibility, keeping them informed with all essential data to oversee each apprentice, monitor their development, and achieve improved results.
Requirements
To hire an apprentice they must:
be aged 16 or over.
Be working in a job-related role.
have the right to live and work in the UK and meet the eligibility rules for an apprenticeship in England.
be employed with a contract of employment, for long enough to complete the apprenticeship and end-point assessment.
work towards an approved apprenticeship standard in a role that supports the knowledge, skills and behaviours of the occupation.
Be engaged in a job-related role, excluding any other full-time educational programs.
receive paid time during normal working hours for off-the-job training.
receive at least the applicable National Minimum Wage.
Skills Bootcamps
We can also work with you to create a Skills Bootcamp for your organisation.
These short duration courses are built specifically around the needs of your workforce and are largely funded by Local Authorities.
They provide an excellent opportunity to upskill members of your team in the areas that you need, whether that is coaching and mentoring, Digital skills, catering skills or improving customer service.
There are some rules around this provision (attendees must be over 19, the course must result in additional responsibilities or pay award at the end, and you will be asked for a co-payment of either 10% or 30%, depending on business size).
Skills Bootcamps are possibly the most flexible and cost-effective solution to training the workforce, that the Government has backed.

Skills Courses
There are two types of skills courses - learner led, and employer led. Whichever type, there are common themes that run through them:
Attendees must be over-19
Not need to study maths and English
Maximum of 16 weeks of duration
Attendance of at least 60 hours (100 hours for digital courses) over that period.
Learn new skills and knowledge
In line with what local employers are looking for.

Learner - Led Courses
Designed to give you the skills and knowledge to help you find work in a particular sector.

Employer - Led Courses
Specifically designed with the needs of a particular employer (or group of employers) and aim to upskill their workforce.
