Overview of the Role
Leading the care service and managing teams of carers to look after adults with care needs.
Details of the Standard
The Leader in Adult Care will guide and inspire teams to make positive differences to someone’s life when they are faced with physical, practical, social, emotional, psychological or intellectual challenges. They will be a leader of the care team and will develop and implement a values-based culture at a service or unit level. They may be responsible for business development, financial control, organisational resilience and continuity as well as for managing risk and leading on organisational change. This qualification aims to support the development of registered managers of adult social care services, specifically those new to their role. Learners will work in adult social care and have responsibility for leading and managing a service. This will include managing and improving care and support for those accessing the service; supporting and developing the workforce; and driving the vision for their service or organisation.
Entry Requirements
Undertake the Disclosure and Barring Service process and provide the result.
English and Maths
English and Maths is required for individuals under 19 without a GCSE grade C/4.
Curriculum Overview
Tasks and responsibilities, Dignity and human rights, Communication, Safeguarding, Health and wellbeing, Professional development, Leadership. 95 credits to be achieved. 80 mandatory and 15 optional.
Delivery & Readiness
Onboarding includes initial and detailed assessment with sector specialist. regular meetings are flexible and delivered through blended learning approaches, via a mix of face to face and remote delivery. With tri party progress reviews (learner, employer & tutor)and Tri party gateway review prior to end assessment.
Summary of End-Point-Assessment
Observation of leadership & professional discussion.
EPA window: 3 months
Grades available: Fail, Pass, Distinction
Progression
This qualification provides learners with an opportunity to demonstrate their experience in management roles within adult care services. This qualification will be the accepted qualification for registration and regulation where appropriate and can demonstrate continuing professional development.
