National Apprenticeship Week always gives us a real boost in the apprenticeship sector. It’s a brilliant chance to get out and about, meet apprentices in action, catch up with colleagues across the sector, and celebrate the progress happening every day on programme.
This year was no different. From visiting learners to attending events, the week was a reminder of why apprenticeships work so well: they build confident people with real skills, in real workplaces, with clear progression routes.
We were delighted to join our colleagues at our Engineering Apprenticeship Centre.
A huge shoutout to BEMA for hosting a superb open event. It was a great opportunity to welcome employers, future apprentices, and supporters of technical education into our Engineering Apprenticeship Centre — to see first-hand what modern apprenticeship training looks like.
And to the apprentices: you were brilliant. Seeing what you’ve achieved in less than a year was genuinely impressive — not just the technical competence you’re building, but the confidence, professionalism, and pride you show in your work. That progress doesn’t happen by chance. It comes from commitment, great tutoring, supportive employers, and your willingness to keep showing up and improving.
Why weeks like this matter
National Apprenticeship Week isn’t just a celebration — it’s a spotlight. It helps more people understand that apprenticeships are a high-quality route into skilled careers, and a powerful way for employers to grow talent from within. For engineering in particular, it’s an important reminder of the opportunities on offer locally and the impact skilled apprentices can make in the workplace, quickly.
Already looking ahead
As soon as the week ends, our focus turns to what’s next — and we’re already looking ahead to upcoming intake and open days. If you’re an employer looking to build your workforce, or a future apprentice thinking about your next step, we’d love you to come and see the centre, meet the team, and explore the pathways available.
If you’d like to find out more about our Engineering Apprenticeship Centre, upcoming events, or how to get involved — get in touch. We’d be delighted to welcome you in.
