We’re proud to introduce SEND Champions – friendly, approachable people who help make our learning spaces more inclusive, supportive, and accessible for everyone. They are members of our team who have taken extra training in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Their role is to understand differences, share good ideas, and help learning work better for all.
What do they do?
SEND Champions:
- Connect with others to encourage inclusive thinking
- Help raise awareness of different learning needs
- Assist by sharing useful resources and strategies
- Make note of behaviours that might benefit from extra support
- Participate in ongoing learning to keep improving support
You might see them quietly suggesting adjustments, sharing tips with tutors, or helping create a more understanding learning environment.
How can you spot a SEND Champion?
Look out for the SEND Champion logo in staff email signatures – that’s a quick way to know who you can talk to.
What does this mean for you?
SEND Champions help ensure:
- You feel listened to and understood
- Support is shared and improved, not judged
Learning spaces are welcoming, flexible, and inclusive.
Sometimes small changes make a big difference – and SEND Champions are here to help make that happen. If you ever have questions or need support, a SEND Champion is a great place to start: info@swatpro.org.uk
