As we move further into the spring term, it is a good time to check in on our mental wellbeing. Balancing work, study, deadlines, revision and everyday life can sometimes feel overwhelming, and periods of stress or anxiety can affect sleep, concentration, confidence and motivation. Looking after your mental wellbeing is not just about pastoral support — it is an important part of staying healthy, learning well and performing at your best.

The NHS Every Mind Matters service offers practical advice to help you manage stress, ease anxiety, sleep better and feel more in control. It includes a free personalised Mind Plan, as well as simple self-care tools and CBT-based techniques to help you tackle worries and build resilience. Small steps such as taking regular breaks, keeping a routine, getting enough rest, talking to someone you trust and being realistic about your workload can all make a difference.

If you are finding things difficult, please do not struggle on your own. You can speak to your tutor, coach or a member of the safeguarding team if you need support, adjustments or someone to listen.

Where to get support

  • NHS Every Mind Matters – practical help for stress, anxiety, low mood and sleep, including a free Mind Plan.
  • NHS urgent mental health support – if you need help quickly, you can use NHS 111 for urgent mental health support in England.
  • Samaritans – call 116 123 free, any time, if you need someone to listen.
  • Childline – for children and young people, call 0800 1111 or use their online support.

If you or someone else is in immediate danger or at risk of serious harm, call 999 straight away.

Need support? Speak to your tutor or contact the safeguarding team. We are here to help. info@swatpro.org.uk
