Traineeships

A traineeship is an education and training programme with work experience, preparing young people for their future careers by helping them to become ‘work ready’. They are perfect for school leavers looking for a more hands-on, less ‘classroom’ option.

Designed for people aged 16 to 24 who don’t yet have the appropriate skills or experience, traineeships provide the essential work preparation training, English, math and work experience needed to secure an apprenticeship or employment.

They are a fantastic pathway of support for young people to gain the skills to apply for an apprenticeship or a job. There is no cost to an employer. Employers need a little investment of time upfront to work with our team to plan your work-placement and the mentoring support required for the young person during the placement. Traineeships allow young people to see if the sector or job they think they want, they really do want, enjoy and can excel in and allows employers the chance to observe young people at work to offer feedback to help them as they apply for work.

A traineeship has three core elements.

- A high-quality work experience placement with an employer

- Work preparation training, provided by the training organisation

- English and math support, if required, provided by the training organisation
