CNC/Manual Machinist Apprentice

What will the apprentice be doing?

Primary Responsibilities/Activities:

  • Select appropriate machine and tooling to manufacture components as specified on drawings
  • Select appropriate materials for each job as described in the drawings
  • Machine to produce required components
  • Check and verify accuracy of components once manufactured
  • Daily and accurate completion of records including timesheets and inspection status documentation
  • Report any manufacturing errors to team leader so corrective action can be agreed
  • Adhere to all quality, H&S standards
  • Work with other departments to set priorities regarding component manufacture to ensure all parts are produced within required timeframes
  • Other duties as may be required

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Machining technician Level 3 Apprenticeship standard

  • EAL L3 Extended diploma in Machining (Development Knowledge)
  • Pearson BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Machining) (Development Technical Knowledge)
  • City and Guilds Machining technician (1273)

Year One: full-time at the Yate training facility.

Year Two: day release at Yate.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Development throughout the business, supervision, management, engineering and service departments.
